Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of PaperTalk (“the Service”), operated by PaperTalk (“we”, “our”, “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. The Service

PaperTalk is a web application that allows you to upload PDF documents and ask questions about their content using AI. Responses are generated by AI models and cite specific pages from your documents.

2. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account.
One person per account. Shared accounts are not permitted.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Upload content that you do not have the right to use.
Use the Service for illegal purposes.
Attempt to circumvent usage limits or security measures.
Reverse-engineer the Service or its underlying AI models.
Resell or redistribute the Service without permission.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of all documents you upload and chat messages you create. We do not claim ownership of your content. We do not use your content to train AI models.

By uploading a document, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the Service (extracting text, generating embeddings, and generating AI responses).

5. AI-generated responses

Responses are generated by AI and may contain errors. While we cite sources from your document, you should always verify important information independently. We are not liable for decisions made based on AI-generated responses.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Free accounts have usage limits as described on the pricing page.
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually via Stripe.
You may cancel your subscription at any time. Access continues until the end of the billing period.
We offer a 7-day refund policy from the date of purchase.
We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance or updates that temporarily affect availability. We are not liable for any loss resulting from service interruptions.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Upon termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Barcelona, Spain.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll notify registered users by email of any material changes. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
